Malaria

Malaria is a mosquito-borne blood disease caused by Plasmodium parasites.

It spreads through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.

The disease is prevalent in  tropical and subtropical areas of Africa, South America as well as Asia.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently certified Azerbaijan and Tajikistan as malaria-free.

The National Framework for Malaria Elimination (NFME) in 2016 was established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
