Ramakrishna Mission



Ramakrishna Mission was established by Swami Vivekananda in 1897.


He was the disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who was a great spiritual leader.


Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was a devotee of Goddess Kali at the Dakshineswar temple.


Swami Vivekananda believed in the United of all religions and established the first math at Baranagar.


Major works were taken up by the mission to remove poverty, eradicate hunger and ignorance among the masses, to fight against untouchability and prevailing superstitions,  and to improve the education system and the condition of women.
