United Nations Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.


It was established in 1985 under ECOSOC Resolution 1985/17.


It is a body of 18 independent experts.


The Committee meets in Geneva and generally holds 2 sessions per year.


It aims to monitor the functions assigned to the United Nations Economics and Social Council in the Part IV of the Covenant.


The state parties are obligated to submit regular reports to the committee the implementation of their economics, social and cultural rights.
