Nanakshahi Samat 555



The Prime Minister had recently greeted the Sikh community on commencement of Nanakshahi Samat 555.


It is a calendar system introduced in 2003 by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.


It is a tropical solar calendar used in the Sikh religion.


It is named afterGuru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh religion.


The birth of Guru Nanak Dev (1469 CE) is kept as the reference epoch.
